Introducing: Ben Chandler's MK1 Jetta Coupe
12/12/2014
At just a whisper over 39,000 miles from new, this MK1 Jetta looks to have been kept in a time warp for the last 31 years. The original body work and interior are in awesome condition, but Ben has plans for the humble German coupe. Last month we covered the unboxing of Ben’s Air Lift kit, and now it’s time for him to install it.
”It’s a great car for London,” Ben reckons, ”The auto box is great for traffic and the quirky looks get people talking at the petrol pumps!”
He’s never been one for a stock ride height however, and the Air Lift MK1 Threaded Body air ride kit allows the flexibility of an adjustable ride height to clear speed bumps, plus fantastic ride comfort and the opportunity to lower the body over the chosen wheel set.
Ben chose UK installer and Air Lift dealer Car Audio Security to handle the install in the MK1. It’s a surprisingly tricky task, considering the fragile plastics and original interior have been left undisturbed for 30 years or so.
Parm and the team at Car Audio Security are planning on a sympathetic boot build in the rear of the car that looks as factory as possible, and not to take away from the character of the car.
It’s certainly a build we’re excited to see accelerate towards completion, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!
