Walking the Talk: Air Lift Performance Equipped MK7 Golf R on Circuit
7/19/2016
Our motto is “Drive it. Show it. Track it.”
That’s because our suspension systems provide unrivalled practicality and durability for everyday use, plus a show-winning stance, as well as the performance and roadholding to excel on the track.
It’s a winning combination – one that this MK7 Golf R perfectly embodies.
Using Air Lift Performance threaded body struts for the MK7 and Air Lift Performance 3P management, Mark Riccioni has put together a Golf R that can drop jaws on track, then roll back into the show ground at a tarmac scraping height.
Seeing the MK7R overtake cars out on circuit and then air out in the pit lane is quite a unique experience, and one that the hardened track day veterans at Track Addict have experienced.
Once back in the show ground, Mark makes himself right at home by simply dropping the ride height and letting the car cool off. The only tell-tale signs of track time that remain are numerous fly swats, the tow hook, oh, and the smell of hot rubber…
In our previous update, we showed RIIVA design installing the Air Lift Performance kit, and ensuring full usability of the boot was retained. They also positioned the double-bellow bags in the optimum range to achieve full drop and maximum performance.
Once installed, the car was taken to Regal Autosport who then prepared the car for the track. Regal has a wealth of knowledge with this platform and adjusted the alignment to perfectly suit fast road and track use.
“Setting the car up for track at the desired ride height is really simple and the double-bellow bags give a progressive feel on the road,” commented Ben Pilgrim, a technical at Regal.
Between the Players Classic at Goodwood and VAG Tuner Live at Donnington Park, the MK7R has completed some 200 miles on circuit, competing with track cars of all shapes and sizes.
Mark’s MK7 demonstrates the performance potential of Air Lift Performance suspension, but don’t just take our word for it, check out this video we reposted on Instagram!
The chase car at the end of the video is another Golf MK7 R, also prepared by Regal Autosport, with the same engine mods!
