Carl Smith's 1970 Sweptline
6/18/2018
Carl Smith, Brian Hanners and Grey Matter Fab are responsible for this incredible Dodge Sweptline build. It uses a full custom chassis that is loosely based on Phat Pabz production frame. It cradles a 360 Mopar V8 and surrounds it in beautiful natural patina.
Huge 24×15 and 22×9 wheels are squeezed into custom fabricated wheel wells and are suspended by Airlift 3H and Viair 480s compressors.
A full sheetmetal bed and full sheetmetal under hood compartment lend a super clean look to the truck while a custom floor and shaved firewall elevate it with naturally flowing finesse.
Carl purchased this Dodge D100 sweptline from a bicycle shop owner, having known him for a couple of years. Carl and Brian immediately knew it needed a new chassis because of the front straight axle on the stock suspension and the project snowballed from there.
When he set out on the project Carl really wanted to do something different. Not your usual a C10, S10 or even a niche classic truck. He is well known for bodydropping everything and this Dodge is no different. He wanted to do something that no one has really bodied on a big set of billets and I think it is safe to say this Dodge is unique!
