SEMA 2016 Part 1
11/11/2016
Warm weather and gambling – everything you’d expect to find in Vegas, right?
It may come as a bit of a surprise to you to learn that Sin City also plays host to the world’s largest automotive tuning expo each year. Then again, if you’re like us and you have warped mind and a love for chopping up your ride… it might not be that big of a surprise!
SEMA rocks.
Unless you spent the whole night before the show gambling away your savings, there’s no other way to describe it. No other show brings together as many tuners, manufacturers and car builders from across the globe, all under one roof. It doesn’t matter what scene or style of tuning you’re into, SEMA has you completely covered. Concourse-clean muscle cars? Check. Liberty Walk wide-arch supercars? Oh, you bet! We even spotted a twin-engine, 1000 bhp classic MINI, complete with fairground-spec airbrushing down the side. Don’t worry, we won’t show you that one.
Air Lift Performance is MASSIVELY proud to be one of the longest-standing traders with SEMA, having displayed at the show almost every year since it’s inception back in 1967, when air suspension was a relatively new technology. We’ve been in this business for a long, long time, my friends…
Throughout those four days in November, SEMA welcomes a cool 150,000+ attendees ranging from buyers and traders right through to media and the occasional punter (it’s supposed to be a trade-only show…). No other single events connects you with so many automotive professionals under one roof, and as you’d expect when you’ve got a product like Air Lift Performance suspension the stand can get pretty hectic on a daily basis! Even with a full team on hand from the 9 am start through to 5 pm, there’s an abundance of meetings always left over for the evening, usually settled with a few drinks.
This year the Air Lift Performance booth displayed a pair of polar-opposite cars: the Speedhunters x RAUH-Welt ‘Spirit Of 147’ Porsche 964 and Bernard’s immaculate BMW E30 M3.
Both cars represent performance in the truest sense, in two very different – but stunning – visual takes on it.
The Porsche 964 boasted super-wide arches, satin black bodywork and classic rally-inspired fog lights, complete with bucket seats, an exposed intercooler and a big ol’ Bisimoto turbo tucked under the rear bumper.
On the flipside, Bernard’s E30 M3 looked almost concourse-clean, with minimal styling upgrades, all executed to the highest standard, finished on a set of super-cool Rotiform wheels for good measure.
It’s already been a week since SEMA 2016 finished and, while we’re glad to be free of Sin City, we’re still buzzing from a super-positive week spent spreading the good word on Air Lift Performance. It’s a real honor to display at SEMA every year and we’re already thinking ahead to next year’s show, getting ready to go even bigger and better than ever before!
