SPOTLIGHT: Sam Elwell's 964 Cabriolet
3/18/2020
Ever spot a build that just stops you right in your tracks? Sam’s 964 had us hooked at just a glance.
Spotted in the foyer area at Ultimate Dubs 2020, the glow from the font luggage department immediately drew us in for a closer look.
Nestled in the front of the blue cabriolet was a very modern looking air install, utilizing Air Lift Performance’s 3P. The copper hard lines and subtle lighting compliment the metallic blue paintwork perfectly.
We’re no Porsche aficionados over here, but it looks like this 964 could be ‘horizon blue’ from the Porsche paint palette. Not a color you’ll see very often…
The beauty of a cabriolet show car is that you can peer into the interior and take it all in easily.
Trimmed in metropole blue leather, the car has an excellent ’80s or ’90s feeling of luxury and excess. Having the roof down also exaggerates the insanely-low ride height.
Sam’s found some pretty unique wheels to perch his 964 on – BBS ‘Nardi’ wheels, a collaboration between the steering wheel and alloy wheel giants.
Sam widened them to fill the arches, giving a classy stance. Just right for a 964.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a 911 without the engine being in the back. Sam’s detailed the engine bay with carbon fibre. It reminds us of the flat six’s racing pedigree.
We’d love to hear this car run – there’s something very cool about that air-cooled engine note.
It’s no mean feat to keep an air-cooled 911 engine bay looking as clean as this one. One look around the back of this 964 and you’re reminded that the 911 was designed to be a performance car. This looks like the perfect car to cruise through the countryside in summer.
